No Pets Allowed?

Categories: Classy Condo Info | May 24th, 2008 | by mctreve | no comments

Are you a pet lover or not? For those who are, do you want your pet dog or cat to be prohibited from living with you just because the management in your condominium has a no-pet rule. Personally, I am not that a “pet-lover”, but I understand those people who love to have their pets with them. I know they will do anything for them to live comfortably with their pets.

There are many condominiums who have a no-pet rule. But there are also such wherein those condo owners own pets. Just like in Metropolitan Miami condo who welcomes residents who are dog lovers. It is good to know that there are condos like this. Visit CCFJ for more articles related to this.

The dwell magazine website has 46 podcasts (as of last count), a good listen while you’re surfing for things for your condo. Most of them are walking tours of neighborhoods, recorded talks by noted speakers from the Dwell on Design, and interviews with industry movers. The website also has Dwell Connect, a virtual community of builders, designers and design enthusiasts. Find a group and interact with other users you might meet in Los Angeles on June 5 to 8 for this year’s Dwell on Design Conference, Exhibit and Home Tours at the LA Convention Center. Don’t forget to register online by May 30th.

As you make your condominium classy, one of the important things to do is to assure the security inside your condo. Of course, if you have a classy condo, it will be attractive to some people’s eyes. With this, you must make sure that all the doors or openings in your condo is properly closed and secured. You can use double locks in your doors and even in your windows. So as you invest in making your condo classy, invest also in the things that will make you live safe and sound in your classy condo. Buy a teargas or a defense weapon to be extra safe inside your place. It is better to be safe that sorry right?

A Reflection of Good Taste

Oftentimes, it only takes a few well-placed accents to give a condo that touch of class. Consider contemporary mirrors, which come in different frames to suit your color scheme and overall theme. Not only do mirrors give off the impression of space, they can also serve as stand-in art pieces when there is not enough room for wall hangings. A quality mirror with a good finish doubles as the focal point in the receiving area, eliminating the need for additional decor. Designing your own mirror could also be a good idea, as some manufacturers allow one-offs for a price. The mirror can then bear your signature, a unique piece for a space all your own.

From a House to a Condo

Moving from a house to a condominium is a test in downsizing. If you’ve ever lived overseas for an extended period of time, you know the feeling: your life should fit into two suitcases maximum. But there are benefits to a long-term move, including being forced to evaluate your possessions and having to let go of things that are not essential. It’s a chance to start over, and for anyone who has never believed in packing lightly, the change is refreshing. Given the smaller space, you tend to buy fewer things because there is no room for clutter and the bin can only hold so much. Just thinking about the practicality in terms of cleaning and maintenance, it’s no surprise that there is a shift towards condo living.

Stencil It

Categories: Suggestions | May 16th, 2008 | by Yra | no comments

Stencils are associated with graffiti, street art and spray paint–anything but classy. But stencils are easy and relatively inexpensive ways to leave your personal touch on any room, however small. Walls and doors are ideal spaces for stencilled borders, which can take the place of wallpaper. Stencilled fabric or wood can be framed as inexpensive pop art pieces. And there are no limits in terms of color and subject.

Stylish or trashy?

Start by choosing images that reflect your taste and fit the room. Then photocopy or convert the image into monochrome and trace onto on a sheet of material that is solid enough to resist paint but thin enough to be cut. Using a scissors or a blade, cut out the lighter areas. Remember to use non-toxic paint that will adhere to the surface you intend to stencil.

Anything you do on your condominium is your masterpiece. Any decorations you made, may it be simple or extravagant, it is called a masterpiece. Anything made by your hand and produced with your own mind is your masterpiece. In designing a classy condo, do not be afraid to use and make your masterpiece.

You do not need any architect or interior designer to design your place. You, yourself can add class and beauty in your condo. What is great about making it your own is the personality that can be reflected in your designs. The details and designs will mirror your attitude and your personality.

Take a Risk (Part 2)

After almost a week, I was able to finish painting and designing my room (take not: it was just a room). Gladly, I was fulfilled and satisfied with the result. I am proud of myself because I was able to take a risk and in the end succeeding with my main goal of making my room personalized and creative.

I think there is a huge similarity with designing a room and a condo. You can take a risk. You will definitely feel good about it in the end. Expressing once ideas is important. No matter how unorganized your ideas are, I am sure you will create a work of art.

Take a Risk (Part 1)

I want to design my own home someday. I want to use my creative skills in it. But somehow, I am afraid of the outcome if I, personally, would do the styling and decorating.

I once have painted my own room using my own imaginative ideas. I used acrylic paints to color my wall. At first, of course I was afraid to paint it by myself because I am no professional painter or artist. It is a big risk for me. It is like, one stroke would be the deciding factor whether my room would have a beautiful outcome or not.
