Most Expensive Cities

Categories: Classy Condo Info, Information | September 26th, 2008 | by editor | no comments

Check out this article in the Global Property Guide: Most Expensive Cities In 2008. This should come in really handy if you’re planning to invest in a flat or a condo. Not surprisingly, London and New York are the top two placers in the race for the most expensive property values. Moscow comes in a close third.

Of course, common sense will always tell us that the most expensive properties are found in the more highly urbanized areas, usually the cities that are centers of government, fashion or business. Not only are the prices of real estate high in these areas, cost of living is usually sky-high as well.

Of course, for those who can cheerfully afford it, owning a flat or a condo in these areas will surely elevate their prestige, and dare I say it, self-worth. Chances are your investment is also secure since these areas are already well-established and property values are less likely to fluctuate.

A dockominium is the water-based version of a condominium; rather than owning an apartment in a building, one owns a boat slip on the water. The term is a portmanteau of “dock” and “condominium.” In addition to the exclusive right to use the boat slip, ownership also provides one with the right to use the common elements of the marina, much the same as one would have the right to use the common areas in a residential condominium development. Additionally a unit owner may use, rent or sell their unit at any time, subject to association approval.
Similar to a condominium, a management company manages the common areas and provides all required services such as maintenance, security, insurance, bookkeeping, legal and overall management and supervision of the dockominium facility. A monthly fee is charged to cover these expenses. Typically, water is included, while electricity and cable, etc. are billed separately via the management association. Real estate taxes are separately assessed by the municipality and are the responsibility of the unit owner.

No Pets Allowed?

Are you a pet lover or not? For those who are, do you want your pet dog or cat to be prohibited from living with you just because the management in your condominium has a no-pet rule. Personally, I am not that a “pet-lover”, but I understand those people who love to have their pets with them. I know they will do anything for them to live comfortably with their pets.

There are many condominiums who have a no-pet rule. But there are also such wherein those condo owners own pets. Just like in Metropolitan Miami condo who welcomes residents who are dog lovers. It is good to know that there are condos like this. Visit CCFJ for more articles related to this.

A Reflection of Good Taste

Oftentimes, it only takes a few well-placed accents to give a condo that touch of class. Consider contemporary mirrors, which come in different frames to suit your color scheme and overall theme. Not only do mirrors give off the impression of space, they can also serve as stand-in art pieces when there is not enough room for wall hangings. A quality mirror with a good finish doubles as the focal point in the receiving area, eliminating the need for additional decor. Designing your own mirror could also be a good idea, as some manufacturers allow one-offs for a price. The mirror can then bear your signature, a unique piece for a space all your own.

From a House to a Condo

Moving from a house to a condominium is a test in downsizing. If you’ve ever lived overseas for an extended period of time, you know the feeling: your life should fit into two suitcases maximum. But there are benefits to a long-term move, including being forced to evaluate your possessions and having to let go of things that are not essential. It’s a chance to start over, and for anyone who has never believed in packing lightly, the change is refreshing. Given the smaller space, you tend to buy fewer things because there is no room for clutter and the bin can only hold so much. Just thinking about the practicality in terms of cleaning and maintenance, it’s no surprise that there is a shift towards condo living.
